EN471 garment classifications
Garment types are grouped into three classes based on the
conspicuity provided, with the classes dictating the minimum
quantities of background and retro-reflective materials to be used.
Class 3:
HIGHEST PROTECTION LEVEL
Bands of retro reflective material shall not be less than 50mm wide.
Minimum background material 0.8mē minimum retro reflective
material 0.2mē.
Class 2
IMTERMEDIATE PROTECTION LEVEL
Bands of retro reflective material shall not be less than 50mm wide.
Minimum background material 0.5mē minimum retro reflective material
0.13mē.
Class 1
LOWEST PROTECTION LEVEL
Where enhanced visibility is an advantage, but for minimal risk/ off road
purposes only. Minimal background material 0.14mē. Minimum retro
reflective material 0.10mē.
PGS provide all types of garments conforming to the above classification. The most common
types are as follows:-
HVC C3 High visibility sleeved coat - class 3
HVFSJ C3 High visibility sleeved jacket -class 3
HVSSJ C3 High visibility short sleeved jacket class 3
HVNSW C2 High visibility sleeveless waistcoat class 2
WORKWEAR
All types of workwear can be purchased from PGS with the option of a company's own name
and/or logo being either screenprinted or embroidered on the garment.
